Produced in mid-century Empoli, a suburb of Florence in Tuscany, Italy, where many glass-producing factories were situated, this style of decanter bottle was hugely popular as a decorative room accent, and was exported across the world. They are now sought out by international collectors and look beautiful arranged together or alone. Each mid-sized bottle, nicknamed the Corset style by collectors due to its curvy waisted shape, has a pressed panelled decor to its sides and a ribbed flame-shaped stopper with plastic insulation where it fits inside the bottle neck. Bases are smooth with no identifying marks. The stoppers are often slightly roughly cast, and usually have manufacturing strawmarks and bubbles in the glass.
