Vintage Art Deco Machine Age Cut Glass Decanter Set. Six-piece Art Deco liqueur service, likely Continental European dating broadly to the 1930s or 1940s. Egg-shaped cut-glass decanter with fitted spear-form stopper and five matching cordial glasses. Fine vertical wheel-cuts around the vessels, heavy cogwheel-form pedestal bases. This is a really unique set with strong machine-age character. The decanter measures just under 10″ tall with its stopper and approximately 4″ wide through the center. Each glass stands just over 3.5 tall. Unsigned and a popular style. It’d be perfectly reasonable to see this in France, Bohemia, Germany, Belgium, Austria, or Poland in this era. The five glasses are free of chips. The stopper has a few minute microchips along its faceted edges. The very tip of the stopper has a minute loss or slight blunting, shown closely in the photographs. Light age-consistent shelf wear is present on the bases of the decanter and glasses. A very small amount of faint dark brown speckling is present inside the bottle under close scrutiny. The set has received only a light cleaning. The interior speckling has been left untreated. We recommend being very conservative with CLR or other mineral-removing chemicals as older glass like this can haze or etch if left unchecked. Each component will be individually wrapped in archival materials and protective cushioning, separated with dividers, and packed in a reinforced box for safe transit. We are meticulous about packing.
