Up for sale is a magnificent, museum-quality mid-century modern art glass decanter bottle. This piece was designed by the legendary glassmaster Paolo Venini for the world-renowned Venini workshop in Murano, Italy. This specific design belongs to the iconic “Incisi” series, which debuted to critical acclaim at the Venice Biennale of 1956. Utilizes the complex “Sommerso” (submerged) technique, layering a vibrant emerald green body over a rich amber-yellow base. Features the signature “Inciso” cold-engraving technique. The entire satin-finish exterior surface is covered in incredibly fine, hand-cut horizontal incisions that beautifully diffuse the light. Includes its original, authentic. Matching two-tone glass stopper. Height is 12 inches approx. 30.5 cm including stopper. Weights 0.952 kg. The base of the decanter features the highly coveted 3-line circular acid-etched stencil signature: “venini / murano / ITALIA”. Excellent vintage condition with no cracks, chips, fleabites, clouding, or restorations. The glass is remarkably clear, and the hand-cut texture is crisp. The stopper joint fits perfectly and securely. Very minor, expected shelf-wear faint scratching on the polished base rim consistent with 60+ years of careful display.
