Empoli region glass has been in production since the 15th century. In the 19th century, studios specialized in producing demijohns, flasks and decanters. To this day, Empoli is still one of the most imported glass producing regions in Italy. They were especially popular in the 1950s and 60s, when MCM’s sleek abstract shapes, with little ornamentation was (and still is), all the rage. Pieces are not always marked. Most is machine made with obvious seams, air bubbles, etc. Which collectors see as charming. This example measures 4.34″ wide x 4.33″ deep x 11.4 tall. The stopper is in good vintage condition with a separation on one side. Both bottle and stopper are in very good vintage condition, no chips or cracks. Beautiful forest green/emerald color. Marked in raised letters 1 Liter gap on bottom of bottle.
