Fantastic vintage Erik Höglund figural art glass decanter for Boda, Sweden, from his iconic People series, originally designed in the late 1950s. This wonderfully quirky Mid-Century Modern piece is formed as a human figure with outstretched applied glass arms, bold molded facial decoration to the body and a large sculptural head forming the stopper. Made in clear glass with the wonderfully irregular, handcrafted character associated with Höglund’s work for Boda. Only flaw noted in this art glass decanter is the stopper sleave liner is missing. Very thick glass the measures. The bottom is thick and uneven waviness that is very thick near the back bottom. No chips or cracks. The stopper as a tape liner to protect the glass. Review photos for complete details of the decorative mid-century art glass decanter. Rich deep emerald-green color. This is not a thin-walled version. 9 7/8″ tall, 3 1/16″ across the bottom, 1 5/16″ across the rim, 1/4″ rim thickness, 1 3/8 at thick part of the bottom. It is marked on the bottom. Erik Höglund Boda Bottle Vase. A crystal Boda bottle vase designed by Erik Höglund circa the late 1950s. A large cast on seal applied to the front face is impressed with the head of a girl done in Höglunds charming naive style. The slender neck is encased in a thicker outer casing below. The bottles four faces are slightly dimpled. The clarity of the crystal is sparkling, this is a piece which will not disappoint, it is an early piece, dating well prior to the 1976 merger with Kosta. Most probably from the 1950s or 60s. The base has the signature with H and the production number and a polished pontil. Erik Höglund is considered one of the most innovative glass designers of the 20. Century, designing glass which was sophisticated and readily recognisable as Boda. He created designs which were non-traditional and unique. He left Boda in 1973 to establish his own studio, creating mainly sculptures. Size: 15 cm high, 11 x 5 cm; weight 400g. Condition: very good vintage condition, immaculate apart from scuffing to the base and a small scuff mark to the rear left shoulder. Please view all the pictures as they complete the description. While I do my best to reproduce the true colours of the pieces, they will vary slightly from system to system, and in actual viewing they will vary under differing lighting. All white spots are purely light reflections from the camera flash. The item will first be wrapped bubble before packing securely in a solid box with lots of peanuts earthquake proof.
