FABULOUS TANTALUS HOUSING 2 CRYSTAL CUT DECANTERS. BELONGED TO MY GRANDMOTHER MANY YEARS AGO WHO LIVED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME WHEN FIRST MARRIED IN BRAZIL. THIS WOULD LINK TO THE TANTALUS BEING PLATED MAPPIN & WEBB, RIO DE JANEIRO, SAO PAULO. SOLID WOODEN CASE POSSIBLY OAK WITH DECORATIVE METAL / BRASS CORNERS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE CASE. A SIMPLE BUT ELEGANT LOCKING HANDLE WORKS TO ALLOW ACCESS TO THE DECANTERS AND KEY IS PRESENT. THERE ARE SOME MINOR SIGNS OF WEAR TO ONE OF THE BEAUTIFULLY CUT DECANTERS, A LITTLE CLOUDING INSIDE AT THE NECK AND A COUPLE OF TINY CHIPS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE STOPPER AND DECORATIVE EDGE OF THE DECANTER. SADLY THE OTHER DECANTER HAS A CRACK IN THE GLASS BUT DOES NOT APPEAR TO LEAK. IT HAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF CLOUDING INSIDE. ALSO THE STOPPER HAS A CHIP TO THE BOTTOM AND IS A LITTLE TOO HIGH ON THIS DECANTER AND HAS RUBBED AGAINST THE TOP OF THE HANDLE. THIS REALLY IS A LOVELY HISTORY FILLED ITEM. Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely signed English cut crystal cordial decanter by Thomas Webb. Measures 9 1/4″ high (to top of decanter) with overall height of 12 1/4″, top diameter is 2 1/4″ and base diameter is 3 1/2″. This nice decanter has a diamond cut pattern around the rounded portion of the bottle, sits on a wide pedestal base and has an elongated panel cut neck. The stopper is prism cut and adds the finishing touch to this beautiful decanter. Both the decanter and stopper are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is minor cloudiness on the interior of the glass on the lower body and normal rubbing and wear on the bottom of the decanter from normal use. This is a very nice functional decanter made by one of the most desirable names in English Art Glass and is definitely a decanter that you will enjoy displaying and using. The decanter is marked with an acid etched signature Thos. Webb England near the center of the base. 1626 Thomas Webb Wellington Whisky Glasses. A group of six Thomas Webb lead crystal whisky tumblers in the Wellington pattern. They have etched marks to the base, somewhat obscured due to the star cutting of course. There are minor variations in them and this is normal and due to their hand made nature. Lead crystal glass hand made and cut in the Stourbridge area. All in good order, some variance due to hand made nature.
