This is a flat bottomed decanter with a four ring neck in a shape that originated in the British Navy in the mid 18th century and has remained little changed. It is unmarked but well made, with a smoothed pontil on base. There are a few tiny bubbles in the glass at the bottom made during manufacture. I do not know if the stopper is original to the piece. It does fit well and shows wear consistent with use. Height to top of decanter 8.5. Height to top of decanter with stopper inserted 9.5. Width of base 9. Width of mouth 2.25.
